Michiko Kawagoe's Profile

Michiko Naito Kawagoe is a composer from Japan. Her works have been performed in the United States, Israel, Germany, England and Japan and broadcasted by the FM radio stations in New York, Los Angels, San Francisco and Oregon, U.S.A and WDR in Germany. After she graduated from Oita Prefectural College of Art, Japan, majoring in oil painting, she received her master and bachelor of music degrees with full scholarships from Louisiana State University in U.S.A. In 1995-1996 she was enrolled in the special artist diploma course in the Jerusalem Rubin Academy of Music and Dance in Israel by a grant from the Japan Israel Women’s Welfare Organization. In 1998-1999 she worked on SYNTAL program with Wayne Slawson at the University of California, Davis computer music studio. She has won numerous awards including a grand prize in the 10th Miyanichi music competition in 2004 in Japan. “ PROPAGATION” made by SYNTAL in 2005 was chosen for the compilation CD of 47 women sound creators worldwide in experimental electric music by The Women Take Back The Noise project in U.S.A. She currently resides in Tsukuba, Japan.
